Hello, my name is Nicco Montaño. Born and raised on Dinétah, a.k.a. so-called “Navajo Reservation”, in beautiful Lukachukai Arizona, I earned my grit by watching my grandparents grow a community through hard work in sustaining their Totsoh Trading Post and creating opportunities for the next generations to come. As a Diné, Chickasaw, and Hispanic matriarch I have had to push through barriers to venture into a whole different world. Barriers such as winning The Ultimate Fighting Championship season 26 and ultimately leading me to become the UFC's First Women's Flyweight Champion. Through my journey I have also earned myself the "King Of The Cage" Women's 125 Title and "Fight to Win"'s Amateur Bantam Weight Title. The night I won the KOTC belt I was handed the mic and gave thanks to my brothers and sisters holding it down at NoDAPL.The night I won UFC belt I thanked my community of warriors and survivors in Dine Bizaad, (my Native Tongue)! Today I continue my endeavors only in hopes for the next chance to show support for my community and experience with them the perseverance and resilience of our ancestors through finding the same strength we have in knowing and learning cultural values within ourselves and each other.
